This week kicks off the 2nd Long Island Doctor Who Convention, and we cannot wait to start our experience this Thursday at the Time Flight Concert: A Celebration of Long Island Doctor Who.

For the 2nd year in a row they have SOLD OUT the con and we want to congratulate them!

 

Below we detail the panels we are participating in & a coupon to our store specifically for attendees at LI WHO 2.

We cannot wait to meet the 1996 Doctor Who film crew altogether, Paul McGann, Daphne Ashbrook & Yee Jee Tso. We have met the illustrious Daphne Ashbrook (Dr. Grace) previously and it is always a pleasure to chat with her every time, but it is Paul McGann (8th Doctor) who we simply cannot wait to meet for the 1st time.

This con is packed with tons of guests ranging from the televised Doctor Who, to Big Finish stars, and authors like John Peel and Terrance Dicks.

SATURDAY 10am:

BEAM ME UP, DOCTOR! The Similarities of Star Trek and Doctor Who with our fellow Trekkies & Whovians, Edwin Thrower and Lanaia DuBois

There is more than just the similarities of wobbly sets in the sixties and monsters made out of foil. Let’s discuss how both shows use a science fiction setting to get across grand ideas like being against racism, war, etc. It’s an awesome idea considering the shows were marketed at kids.

SUNDAY 2pm:

Writing For Geekdom with guests John Peel & Matthew Dow Smith

Doctor Who has broadened the scope of Science Fiction writing, bridging the gap between the genres of Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Horror. We’ll discuss writing with professional writers, talk about the kind of writing Doctor Who has inspired, and we’ll explore how new writers can hone their craft.

As you may know Authors John Peel & Matthew Dow Smith are also contributors to Myth Ink Books Publications

Some of our readers may be wondering why DOCTOR WHO & THE AMBASSADORS OF GEEKDOM is now a Spring 2015 publication.  This is due to the amount of releases we have before the end of the year.  We have just made available 2 chapbooks, with two more coming in December, plus DARK TALES FROM ELDER REGIONS: NEW YORK & the 2nd Edition of THE FRIENDLY HORROR AND OTHER WEIRD TALES.  We have ALOT of awesome contributions for our 2nd Doctor Who book and want to make sure they are all at the forefront of our publication schedule for Spring 2015.
