For Immediate Release:
HAPPY BILBO AND FRODO’S BIRTHDAY! We are happy to announce on this glorious day of Hobbit celebrations and during Tolkien week, a new Tolkien fan anthology. See below for all the details!
Forgotten Leaves: Essays from a Smial
A New Tolkien Fan Anthology
Purpose: Selected essays from Parma Nole: Journal of the Northeast Tolkien Society that are being brushed up and republished alongside new solicited essays. Additionally, this collection will contain previously unpublished lectures, critical (and non-critical) essays, interviews & reviews. Depending upon the amount of accepted contributions this collection may extend beyond one volume.
Many may know that we are the organizers behind The New York/Northeast Tolkien Society (Smial of the Tolkien Society UK) and had to place it on extended hiatus due to our writing commitments.
During the society’s heyday we published a fanzine that had some incredible contributions. We are selecting a few of those articles, since they have not been seen since their publication (the journal is no longer in circulation) and having the authors revisit and expand upon their essay.
One example is from the author Melissa Gibson, who wrote “He Who Would Be First Must Be Last: Tolkien’s Heroism in Lord of the Rings,” which this essay was her first published article in a 2003 issue of the Journal of the New York Tolkien Society.
We are also seeking well written new articles to cover several topics, please read the following if you wish to contribute to this volume.
